![]() ![]() ![]() Overall the book scared me and shocked me, which is a difficult feat. To me this is the scariest type of horror, no monster tromping through the woods or sparkly vampires, just depraved psychotics making money off of the snuff film industry, which to me scares me because a) I have heard the urban legends of snuff films and in 3rd world they exist (hell maybe in the US they do and b) they are people sick enough to want to watch this. Survivor is a page turner and I had to find out how Lisa was going to survive her ordeal. Like Ketchum, Gonzalez does an amazing job of showing the true horror of the human corrupt heart. I loved this book, it takes the reader to those dark deep places that we don’t want to know about that really exist but we want to pretend that they do not exist. ![]() I think it is so funny when “horror fans” become “offended” or “deeply disturbed”. ![]()

But the feeling of being so deeply into research and writing that hours go by without one realizing it, is very satisfying.Īlso: a book like The Wine Bible doesn’t have to be written sequentially. The 2nd edition took five and a half years, and this 3rd edition has taken four and a half years…so I’m getting very fast! I have loved every minute of writing each edition. The first edition of The Wine Bible took 10 years to write – and I had such a tiny advance that I essentially was working unpaid all that time. The 2001 play, for which Parks became the first Black woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, has attained a towering stature in American letters over the past two decades, inspiring a generation of dramatists wrestling with race, capitalism, and their blood-stained roots in our country’s history. ![]() Throw in career-high performances from Corey Hawkins and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and it is a theatrical event in the most essential sense, in that it demands to be seen here and now. ![]() The first Broadway revival, which opened at the Golden Theatre tonight, crackles like a live wire - an American fable with its finger shoved in a socket.
